Struggled a little with only one practice day fishing around the Paris area. I practiced south of Paris on Friday and struggled with the low water. I have never fished the Paris area when the water is this low. If you are fishing this area be careful right now. Saturday I went North and fished the areas I felt would have fish and put together a small limit that weighed 11lbs. 13oz. for a respectable 33rd place finish. Not bad for just jumping into an area without prefishing it at all. I caught all my fish on a double willowleaf spinnerbait slow rolled on staging banks
I am back at Kentucky Lake again to fish another BFL. 2 weeks in a row. Hard day today, fishing out of Paris and the water is so low it makes it very hard to navigate. I had a little bad luck today, so that should bode well for tomorrow. Same thing happened last week. Everything is prepared now just have to go work the plan!
What a great way to start the year!! 9th place with 17lbs. 10oz. in the first LBL division BFL tournament. I had a great time and caught several limits of keepers. Spent a couple of days prefishing and had a great time. Caught most of my keepers on a redeye shad and a spinnerbait. Started the day catching a limit on an Alabama rig that weighed about 10-11lbs then upgraded on secondary structures with irregular features.
The first big tournament of the year is this weekend. I fished a bass club tournament just for fun, no points no pressure. But now it is time to go to that first BFL and first money tournament. I am looking very forward to this weekend and the fishing to come. 4 days on Kentucky Lake and great weather to boot. Here I come bass, look out!!
Well, I didnt win my first tournament of the year but it was fun! I had a pretty respectable 11-1/2# yesterday. I caught all of them on Vision 110 and 110 magnum jerkbaits in pro blue and gg gill colors at Pickwick. I broke one fish off and missed a few key bites on a brush hog. But it was the first tournament and I haven't practiced much which brings me to my point. Practice, practice, practice!!!!!. But you know, practice makes perfect. It provides you with confidence and allows better concentration which are crucial in fishing! I fished a completely different area than I practiced for the tournament in but those few fish I caught the day before gave me the confidence to go into a different area and catch fish. What I needed more practice in was catching fish on plastics though. So, the moral of the story is to practice it all and be ready when that time comes.
Gotta love the weather in the spring of the year!! Warm one day cold the next. It brings out the best of us I think and we come forth out of the cocoon of winter and its cold dreary days. We had a relatively mild winter this year but I am afraid this spring may be rough. The Everstart tournament at Table Rock has been canceled due to the tornado that tore through the Branson, MO area on Tuesday. It did a lot of damage to the boats, flw equipment and Kimberling area. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and pe
I am not a pro fisherman just Joe Average out here trying to enjoy the outdoors. I love to bass fish and love the competition of tournament fishing as well. Hope you find something within my sight that is entertaining or informative..
