With spring warm fronts and rains these warmer rainy days bring warmer water temps and push fish into shallower waters and steps closer to the spawn. So keep looking forward to warm rains and sunny warm days to get these big sows up shallow to spawn. Lot of big fish being caught these day including a couple over 11 from Pickwick that I have seen pics of. Water temps have been high 40's to low 50's, we are headed in the right direction finally but I am sure we are due for a few setbacks. This is a great time to be on the water, jigs, jerkbaits, and lipless crankbaits can produce some of your biggest fish of the year right now. So get out there and catch yours!! Good luck and hope to hear from you soon
Finally spring has arrived, I know this for two reasons. Number one I fished two tournaments this weekend for the first time since October. Number two my allergies are about to make my head explode. Had a mediocre day Saturday catching only one keeper in my BFL tournament on Ky Lake, but it was a 5-05# so pretty happy with that. It was a fun day overall. Sunday on the other hand was a great day with 20.44# anchored by a 6.22# sow for First place in my club tournament on Pickwick. That was no doubt fun. Water temps are beginning to hit the 50's and the big fish are making that prespawn run to the shallows. There have been some huge fish caught on area lakes lately so it is definitely time to hit the water. Go catch you a big one soon!!
I am not a pro fisherman just Joe Average out here trying to enjoy the outdoors. I love to bass fish and love the competition of tournament fishing as well. Hope you find something within my sight that is entertaining or informative..
