Even with the cold water I am still getting some good and bad reports on the fishing. I think it is a matter of just slowing down to match the speed of the fish and to find those areas where you aren't competing with thousands of dying shad. Area TVA lakes have had so many shad the last years or so that some days it just seemed impossible to compete with them. So maybe all this cold weather is coming at the right time.
Right now is a great time to get that boat maintenance done and tackle maintenance as well. Get organized and get ready for those days that you really want to be out there. Plan that trip you have been wanting to take this spring and make sure you have everything together and ready when it warms up. Do some research on that new tactic you want to learn and try to have that tackle ready to dedicate to learning it.
Use this time productively so you have time to head to the lake as soon as you are ready and can get some much needed time on the water.
