There is a difference between persistence and a preconceived notion. As fisherman we are taught to be persistent and patient particularly when they aren't cooperating, but sometimes I think we get the preconceived notion of what they are doing or should be and we don't adjust. We are just going through the motions. I just did it and paid the price with a zero in a fairly important tournament for me. I normally have a plan for each tournament day of what to do if this happens or that happens, but I was so convinced I was doing the right thing I didn't plan and just ended up going through the motions thinking the next spot would change my day. I didn't think through what was really going on and what to do next. I just kept flipping and not catching fish with no regards to what they were doing or even where they had gone. We had a major cold front and from everyone I talked to the fish moved out just a bit but enough that my boat was sitting on top of them and I was flipping into the void. So the moral of this story is to adjust and make changes, have a game plan and know what you are going to do if the day is just not working. Don't just go through the motions.
I am not a pro fisherman just Joe Average out here trying to enjoy the outdoors. I love to bass fish and love the competition of tournament fishing as well. Hope you find something within my sight that is entertaining or informative..
