Kayak Fishing - get back to the pleasure of fishing!
The new rage in the bassing world is kayak fishing though it really isn't all that new actually. Dating back to early boating history small kayak like boats were some of the first styles of boats for fisherman and hunters alike trying to expand their territories to provide for themselves and families. They have improved and advanced over the years but they still provide fisherman the opportunity to really get back to the basics and still be comfortable and have the amenities and stability to make fishing comfortable.

Yaks come in all kinds and styles from very simple to very elaborate and just depends on what you want and are willing to pay for. The things they all have in common is the ability to get low to the water and to bring back that general connection to the water and nature. Now days in our high powered boats and electronics we tend to get so wrapped up in the game so much that we forget to just connect and enjoy nature itself. Not to say being in a yak doesn't mean your not serious about your fishing at all, that is why the industry is so competitive and providing fisherman with the best products and features they can create and dream up. From the ability to stand and fish to places to hold fish and tackle comfortably and safely, there are some really neats boats out there! The tournament scene has even hit yak fishing and is growing quickly making it much cheaper and easier for everyone to participate.
Another really cool thing about fishing out of a kayak is the ease of getting it into smaller waters and place you can't get a conventional bass boat into. From versions that weigh very little and are shorter to longer more stable boats they come in a wide range of options that can be used on ponds, lakes, and rivers. They can be put on top of your car or truck pulled behind on trailers and stored easily in or on campers. Some fisherman even put them on the front deck of a bass boat to access backwaters they can't get their boat into to get into that secret honey hole at times others can't. The cost of maintenance and upkeep of these things is very minimal leaving more money for trips and equipment as well.
I will be working on updating and creating pages around yak fishing here on the site over the winter. I will add some pics and tips going forward from local fisherman on how to choose a yak and fishing tips to improve your success from these killer little boats. Keep checking back for updates and upcoming information on tournaments, boats, and tips.
