Area Tournaments
Tournaments in the Memphis area vary from Bass Clubs to Regional circuits. There are many options to choose from. It is just a matter of how involved or how competitive you want to be. I hope I can eventually have a pretty comprehensive listing of all of them available as well as results and profiles of the local competitors and their successes.
Club Tournaments
This is the easiest to get involved with and the most popular because of cost and freindliness of the process.
Usually the average tournament will cost a boater $100 or so and a non-boater in the neighborhood of $50 for a one day tournament. You are fishing with people you are familiar with and know so it is more fun than competitive. Not to say that clubs aren't about competition. There is always that core group that spend time and money to make sure they are always close to the top of the standings. We have several clubs here in town but below is a listof clubs with an internet presence.

Charity Tournaments
Charity Tournaments are the most popular way to fish a tournament as you can choose your partner as well as give a charitable donation to one of our local groups. There are usually 150-300 boats in these so it is good to be prepared to fish right next to other boats. You really need to get mentally prepared for that as much as anything.
St. Jude Bass Classic will be May 29, 2016 on Sardis Lake in North MS. Entry forms will be located at most local bait shops. At the bottom of the page is the flyer on how to sign up and the details. Here is the link to sign up online http://stjudebassclassic.com/fishing/ This is a Mid South Tradition that you should participate in at least once in your lifetime.
Draw and Team Tournaments
There are a few team and draw tournament circuits available as well. These offer more competition and bigger payouts. They also are more competitive and require more money and time. Here is a couple of links to those sites to get more information on them. I have fished BFL off and on for years and a few of the team circuits. They are a lot of fun and a good way to learn more about our area lakes and their true potential. Below is a link to BFL and ABA circuits. Also, I have attached a page that discusses BFL in better detail. Fishers of Men is a Christian team tournament trail that fishes on Saturdays. Peanut Craft Lures trail is a midsouth team tournament trail with some really good anglers so if you and your buddy want to test your skills this is a good place to do it.

Youth Tournaments
Youth tournaments are a great way to get your child involved in bass tournaments. The are team organizations as well as high school tournaments popping up all over the country. I will do some research on these and try to post some of these as they come up. If you have one you think I should add please send me the information. Here is a great one I have supported the last couple of years. Check it out and take a kid fishing!
