Unweighted hooks
Unweighted hooks are important and can be oversimplified as easily as anything in your tacklebox. Take into consideration the size and thickness of the bait when you pick the size hook you use, also the heaviness of the hook should be considered as well. Think of these like a golfer does a golf club. When picking the size of the hook consider when the plastic balls up on the hook how much exposure will you still have and can you get an effective hook set with it. Are you in heavy cover moving a fish quickly away and need a heavier hook wire. Are you using it in clear water or long distance cast and need a lighter wire to allow easier penetration with lighter gear. Make smart choices on the hook and see if it is the best fit for your situation and style of fishing you are doing.
Texas rigged weightless a bait comes through cover easier and can be used to cover water and be more effective finding and locating fish without having to untangle from the cover. When texas rigging minimize the hook and places for weeds or brush to snag onto the bait and to hold by matching up hooksize or styles. This is a great way to fish a trick worm or stickbait slowly in grass or heavy cover to coax wary bass into biting. Wackly rigging is another great way to impart a large amount of action into a bait by hooking it in the center allowing the unhooked ends of the bait to flap around and impart a ton of action to the bait. This rig is great for fishing very particular places yet it isn't as weedless as other rigs. It can be very effective and is a action fish don't see as much of.
I will be posting some illustrations below soon on ways to rig these hooks and what these rigs look like so keep checking back til this page is completed.
