Bay Springs - This lake is the first one below Pickwick attached by the waterway through Yellow Creek. This lake tends to have fairly clear water and a great population of large Spotted Bass that at times local tournament anglers will target because of their willingness to bite when the fish on Pickwick might not want to bite. There is also a good population of largemouth most popular areas being in Riddle creek and the Crows neck areas of the lake.
Columbus Pool - This is the most popular lake on the waterway and is fished hard due to its proximity to Columbus and Starkville, MS. It has lots of tributaries and backwaters with stumps and grass abounding throughout the lake and waterway. Spring is a great time to fish here as long as the water does not rise too much but if it does go as shallow as you can in flooded grass and stumps with a spinner bait and you are bound to catch a good one. In Summer and Fall look for breaks where shallow and deeper water intersect that have wood on them and you will find fish. When there is curent the fishing is at its best.
Aliceville - This pool is lined with shallow flats and stumps as well. It fishes much like Columbus but tends to get a tad less pressure but is known for tournament winning stringers of big bass especially in the Spring.
