TWRA Fishing Lakes - West TN
This section will cover West TN Fishing lakes and techniques that have proven to be good ways to catch fish and to enjoy the lakes.
These all require permits but have some excellent fishing and provide anglers the opportunity to enjoy some great scenery and fishing.

These lakes are state run and provide fisherman in areas with fewer fishing opportunities waters to fish in a closer locale where only private fishing lakes may be available. Some are managed for trophy fishing and have slot limits on bass but also offer good panfish and catfishing as well.

Herb Parsons Lake - Located just out of the Collierville TN area this one is a close drive for Memphis area anglers. This lake has a slot limit on bass (14-18") and has numerous good bass in the 4-5# class fish that provide some great action. It is a scenic little lake with not a ton of cover for the fish but plenty of shoreline wood and grasses most of the year. It is currently low and brought down to do some habitat creation over the winter. The primary food source is crayfish, bream, and small baitfish so picking baits accordingly tends to help with success. Bream colored topwaters, jigs, and crankbaits are some of my favorite choices here.

Glenn Springs Lake - Located just out of the Munford/Atoka TN area this one is a close drive for Memphis area anglers. This lake has a slot limit on bass and has numerous good bass caught from it every year though double digit trophies are not common it does have a good number of 4-5# class fish that provide some great action. It has an abundance of flooded timber and in most years lots of grass as well. The primary food source is crayfish, bream, and small baitfish so picking baits accordingly tends to help with success. Gibson County Lake - Located just out of Trenton, TN. Another lake with slot limits for bass this one does produce some larger fish than Glenn Springs including a few double digit bass each year! It is a deep lake with a few shallow areas around. It has an abundance of flooded timber and some well defined creek channels to check out. The depth of the lake is one reason I think it produces the quality of fish that it does because it gives the bass some areas to hide from fisherman. If you are looking to catch a bigger than average bass this one is a great choice.
Lake Graham - Located just outside of Jackson, TN. Another flooded timber lake this one is known for producing a few large bass but also for the schooling activity that occurs during the summer here. Primary forage here is smaller shad and during certain time in the summer the lake is alive with surface activity and numbers of fish can be caught on topwaters, shallow crankbaits, and fluke style baits. I have had some great days here running big spinnerbaits down vertical logs and through the flooded timber.
These are just some of my favorites and there are several more lakes that could be included and written about. I will add some of those in the future.
Check some of these out and let me know how you do.
